Amy Herzfeld

A native Idahoan, Amy has been active in statewide progressive movement building for over ten years. Her work experience ranges from policy advocacy and community organizing to electoral management and award-winning journalism. Amy graduated Cum Laude with a degree in American History and Gender Studies from Boise State University and is also a graduate of the Western Institute for Organizing and Leadership Development. She is the current board chair of the Portland-based Western States Center. Her honors include 2005 Progressive Youth Leader of the Year by United Vision for Idaho, 2008 Woman Making History by the BSU Women's Center, and 2008 Woman of the Year by the Idaho Business Review.
Dan Prinzing, Ph.D.

Dr. Prinzing directs Center efforts to increase the global perspective of Idaho's students and teachers through curriculum integration that focuses on global cultures, global connections, and global issues. Dan has a BA in History Secondary Education, an MA in Curriculum and Instruction, an MA in History and Government, and a Ph.D. in Educational Administration. Prior to his current position at the Center, he was the Idaho State Department of Education's (SDE) coordinator of civic and international education, the former SDE coordinator of social studies and curricular materials, and a language arts and history teacher in the Boise School District.

Phil graduated from Boise State University as a McNair Research Fellow in 2009 with degrees in History and Communication. His current research projects revolve around examining the impact of the Center's human rights education framework in areas that could be classified as divided societies or former conflict zones. This international study, which captures the voices of the students and teachers affected by the Center's programming, will be completed and presented this July at the World Congress for Civic Education in Jakarta. Phil's research has also brought him to the Balkans, Colombia, Jordan, Dominican Republic, Northern Ireland, and South Africa.
